Visit Klaipeda!


Klaipėda is the oldest Lithuania city:  first mentioned in the Chronicles of Memelburg in 1252.  Until the 15th century, the city was developing closer to the castle, which was situated on the islands formed from the Danė River tributaries.  The castle was rebuilt several times and the city accordingly changed location as well.

Lithuanian Sea Museum is located in Klaipeda. Today Lithuanian Sea Museum is the unique complex of the sea heritage and nature knowledge in all the eastern Baltic States. In the defensive parts of the fort the expositions of the navigation history and the fort are equipped, on the special occasions the fort cannon “speaks”. It is said that in the silence of the moonlit night you can hear the tinkle of the weapons and the whisper melody of the young soldier’s song…

The Lithuanian Sea museum is a complex, which involves Aquarium, ethnographic farmstead of the fisherman, exposition of navigation history and Dolphinarium. The exposition of the navigation history begins on the way to the Museum with authentic fishing ships. In the ethnographical farmstead of fisherman you will get acquainted with life and work of our old seacoast inhabitants. The exposition of the Lithuanian navigation is housed in the underground galleries, in the four historical halls. 

The Maritime Museum is famous for its remarkable exhibits. Come and have wonderfull time here!
