Gdynia is a city located in the north of Poland at the Gdańsk Bay shore and is a part of the Tricity agglomeration. Due to the shipyard creation in 1920s, Gdynia started to develop rapidly and has been granted the city rights. And so, up from the sea and dreams, a small fishermen's village grew into dynamic city that we know today, with twenty-five thousand inhabitants.

The NMFRI Gdynia Aquarium is a unique place situated in the most beautiful corner of the city - at the John Paul II Avenue which is a continuation of the Kościuszko Square and a promenade connecting Gdynia with the sea. The NMFRI Gdynia Aquarium is positioned in the center of the city, being surrounded by water at three sides.
